It has strong hygroscopicity and can soluble in water and glycerol. It is slowly dissolved in methanol to form a solution with a concentration of 13-16%. the aqueous solution is weak alkaline, insoluble in alcohol. Anhydrous borax is the product obtained when borax is heated to 350-450 ℃. When placed in air, it can be hygroscopically changed into borax decahydrate or borax pentahydrate.
